What does affirmations mean?

Affirmations are verbal declarations that when made on a consistent basis help to reprogram our thinking patterns until we begin to eventually begin to think, feel, behave and act differently.

The scriptures are designed to help us think like our Maker.

“Your thoughts are not my thoughts, so are your ways my ways” – said God in Isaiah 55:5.

If you want your ways to conform to the ways that God planned for you, then declare His word over your life and watch the difference it will make.

How to maximize the power of these affirmations:

  •          Must be consistent with the scriptures.
  •          Must be mixed with faith – see it coming to pass. Say it with passion until you believe it.
The following are Biblical affirmations and their corresponding verses to inspire and motivate you daily.


1. I am an over-comer.

1 John 5:4

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

 

2. I can do all things through Christ.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.


3. I trust in God and nothing shall be impossible to me.

Genesis 1:27

You might have consciously made this great exercise a once a year event – often during a National Thanksgiving Day or at the beginning of a new year. Gratitude ought rather to be a lifestyle for you to experience the best it can offer.

Regardless of your present situation, there are still things you can be grateful for.

There are several benefits of being thankful.

First, our expression of gratitude must be to our Creator who is the source of all goodness. This helps to focus the mind on things that are good.

Being thankful makes way for further acts of kindness.

Gratitude affects every aspects of your life – mentally, emotionally and physically.

Emotional benefits:

  1.  You are more likely to be satisfied and not depressed, because you have a perspective of life. Gratitude prevents worry and anxiety. It by focusing your mind on the good things in life, you are less apprehensive or stressed.
  2. With emotional stability, you have more cordial interpersonal relationships. If you are habitually grateful, you will be more pleasant in your interaction with others.

Physical benefits:
  1. Gratitude affects your physical well-being. Because you are less stressful, you have reduced tendency to developing stress-induced ailments such as headaches, pain and sleeplessness.

  2. Gratitude also boosts your immunity, thus fights off illness.                                Attitude of gratitude will help you appreciate your body and be encouraged to keep it healthy through physical exercise.

Mental and spiritual benefits:
  1. Being grateful for the favor and forgiveness of God will make you forgiving to others. You will hold no grudge against anyone when you are more disposed to thankfulness.  

  2. Gratitude gives you mental and spiritual strength and makes you resilient. You will not quit and give way to discouragement. Gratitude is a sign of optimism and faith.

  3. Gratitude mellows your temperament and strengthens your character. You will not be envious of others but rather be thankful for them.
